Whom is the loan offered to?
It is offered to students who want to study in India or pursue higher education overseas. The maximum amount offered for studies in India and overseas are different and varies from one bank to another.

Types of courses covered under the loan
It can be taken for a full-time, part-time or vocational course and graduation or post graduation in the fields of engineering, management, medical, hotel management, architecture, etc.

Eligibility, documents required
To apply for the loan, one must be an Indian citizen, having secured an admission into a college/university recognised by a competent authority in India or abroad. The applicant must have completed his higher secondary level schooling.

Some banks offer the loan even before one has secured admission into the university.
As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, there are no restrictions on the upper age limit, but some banks may have it.

The banks require additional documents such as admission letter of the institution, fee structure, Class X, XII and graduation (if applicable) marksheets. Also required are the income documents such as salary slips or income-tax returns (ITR) of the co-applicant.

Loan financing, collateral requirement
The banks can finance up to 100% of the loan depending on the amount. Currently, for loan up to Rs 4 lakh, there is no margin money required. For studies in India, 5% of the required money has to be financed by the applicant. On the other hand, for studies overseas, the required margin money increases to 15%.

The banks also ask for collateral for loans above Rs 7.5 lakh. Presently, the banks do not ask for any collateral or third-party guarantee for loan up to Rs 4 lakh. For loans above Rs 4 lakh up to Rs 7.5 lakh, a third-party guarantee is required. A collateral is asked for loan exceeding Rs 7.5 lakh.

Once the loan application is accepted, the banks disburse the amount directly to the college/university as per the given fees structure.

Interest rate
The banks uses the Marginal Cost of Funds based Lending Rate (MCLR), plus an additional spread to set an interest rate. Presently (in 2017), the additional spread is in the 1.35-3% range.

Booth Level Officer; A Representative of Election Commission at the Grass-Root Level

For enhanced participation of electors in the electoral process and reducing the electoral malpractices, it is essential to improve the quality of electoral registration process and of the electoral rolls. Booth Level Officer (BLO) is a local Government/Semi-Government official, familiar with the local electors and generally a voter in the same polling area who assists in updating the roll using his local knowledge. In fact, BLO is a representative of Election Commission of India (ECI) at the grass-root level who plays a pivotal role in the process of roll revision and collecting actual field information with regard to the roll corresponding to the polling area assigned to him.
Under Section 13B (2) of Representation of People Act, 1950, BLOs are appointed from amongst the officers of the Govt. /Semi Govt. /Local Bodies. Generally,

 one BLO is responsible for one part of the electoral roll. From August, 2006 the Commission has decided to introduce the concept of appointing BLOs who would be accountable for ensuring the fidelity of electoral roll.+
The ECI introduced this new system of appointing BLOs creating a clear line of accountability for preparation of an error-free electoral roll, making the BLOs its custodian at the polling booth level. Previously, voter-identification slips used to be distributed by the contesting candidates of various political parties and that gave scope for complaints. The preparation of accurate electoral rolls and direct distribution of voter identification slip by the BLOs also boosted voter confidence in the credibility of the election process.

Award Details:

For Students-

The total categories of prizes are 4. Each prize category has 21 winners. The total number of winners are 84 students across all the prize categories.

1st Prize: NASA camp. Top 21 students will get to go to NASA camp.

2nd Prize: Cash prize of INR 1,00,000 will be awarded to 21 students.

3rd Prize: Cash prize of INR 50,000 will be awarded to 21 students.

Consolation Prize (4th): Cash prize of INR 21,000 will be awarded to 21 students.

For School/Faculty

To applaud school/faculty’s hard work for consistently churning out bright students, prizes for the best faculty / school will be awarded on the basis of maximum student enrollment participation. The total categories of prizes are 3. The 1st prize category to have 4 winners. 2nd & 3rd prize categories to have 9 winners each. The grand total number of winners are 22 winners across all the prize categories.

1st Prize: NASA camp. One faculty member from top 4 schools each get to go to NASA camp along with the student winners.

2nd Prize: Cash prize of INR 21,000 will be awarded to next top 9 best schools / teachers each.

3rd Prize: Cash prize of INR 11,000 will be awarded to next top 9 best schools / teachers each.

KCNS Selection process

The KCNS exam will be conducted in two stages;

The first stage will be the Online Scholarship Exam. The class-wise merit list will name the qualifiers.

In the second stage, the qualifiers will have to go through the Rapid Fire round through Skype / Video calling. (Applicable only to the qualifiers)
