NILP- New India Literacy Programme

The Government of India has approved a new centrally-sponsored scheme, the ‘New India Literacy Programme (नव भारत साक्षरता कार्यक्रम)’ for the period during FYs 2022-2027 to cover all the aspects of ‘Education For All’ (erstwhile termed as Adult Education) to align with National Education Policy 2020 and also with that of Budget Announcements FY 2021-22 which mandated to enable increased access of resources, online modules covering the entire gamut of adult education will be introduced.

The objectives of the scheme are to impart not only Foundational Literacy and Numeracy but also cover other components that are necessary for a citizen of the 21st century. These include Critical life skills (including financial literacy, digital literacy, commercial skills, health care and awareness, child care and education, and family welfare); Vocational skills development (to obtain local employment); Basic education (including preparatory, middle, and secondary stage equivalency) and Continuing education (including engaging holistic adult education courses in arts, sciences, technology, culture, sports, and recreation, as well as other topics of interest for local learners, such as more advanced material on critical life skills).

The scheme will be implemented through volunteerism on online mode. 

Training, orientations, workshops of volunteers will be organized through a face-to-face mode. All material and resources shall be provided digitally for easy access for registered volunteers through easily accessible digital modes, viz, TV, radio, cell phone-based free/open-source apps/portals, etc.The scheme will cover non-literates of the age of 15 years and above in all States/UTs in the country. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan , English: Education for All Movement), or SSA, is an Indian Government programme aimed at the universalisation of elementary education “in a time bound manner”, as mandated by the 86th Amendment to the Constitution of India making free and compulsory education to children between the ages of 6 to 14 (estimated to be 205 million children in 2001) a fundamental right. The programme was pioneered by former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

As an intervention programme, it started on 2002 and SSA has been operational since 2000-2001. However, its roots go back to 1993-1994, when the District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) was launched, with an aim of achieving the objective of universal primary education. DPEP, over several phases, covered 272 districts in 18 states of the country. The expenditure on the programme was shared by the Central Government (85%) and the State Governments. The Central share was funded by a number of external agencies, including the World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID) and UNICEF. By 2001, more than $1500 million had been committed to the programme, and 50 million children covered in its ambit. In an impact assessment of Phase I of DPEP, the authors concluded that its net impact on minority children was impressive, while there was little evidence of any impact on the enrolment of girls. Nevertheless, they concluded that the investment in DPEP was not a waste, because it introduced a new approach to primary school interventions in India.

In fact, many such online work should be handed over to anybody other than Acharya / Teachers, because on a day when there is a network problem, children can not be read by heart while teaching work

How to download the Saral Data application?

First of all open Google play store in your mobile phone. After opening google play store, enter 'Saral Data' in the searchbox. Then you will see 'Saral Data' App in your display. Click on the Install button. The downloading process will start in the notification panel. After downloading 'Saral data' app, you must seek the permission for better experience.

How to enter PAT marks in the Saral Data application?

After downloading Saral data app, Now open the App in your smart phone. You will see login page first. To login in App, Enter your school dise code as a usename and then enter your password. Now you will see the first page on your display. After login process, you have to select your class, section and PAT - Test Subject - Date. Now you can easily scan your marks in 'Saral Data App'.
